Rob Edwards and O'Neil represent the initial names under consideration to replace the former manager as head coach of Wolves.

Pereira was sacked on Sunday following the squad's 10-match winless start to the Premier League campaign.

Furthermore both candidates - both of who have previous links to the team - are among the names to be considered by the Wolves ownership.

Edwards is presently at another club, which would pose a potential obstacle to his appointment at Molineux.

However the ex- Luton head coach - who made more than 100 of appearances for Wolves during his time as a player - is considered a leading candidate for the position.

The mid-career manager is said to have support from the club board as they start the search of appointing a new manager.

Gary O'Neil is also emerging as a surprise contender, even though he would be a surprising appointment given he was sacked by Wolves in December last year.

The ex- West Ham player is currently unemployed which means the club would not be required to provide any buyout fee.
