Hulu is Developing a Far Cry TV Series from the Producers of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.
The most recent Far Cry instalment that gamers explored was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and debuted during October 6, 2021. As a series, it is famous for embracing action and insanity with the same glee, all while weaving captivating, ideologically themed narratives. Little surprise that FX's decision for a Far Cry anthology series attracted two visionaries whose work have embodied all of those things.
About the Series
Inspired by Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, the short-run anthology series will be available on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The series will also follow the video games' structure by introducing a different backdrop and group of personalities in each season.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as executive producers on the series under their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had excellent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is innovative, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to appreciate our partners at Ubisoft for trusting us with this popular property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also star in the show, but at the time of writing, we are unsure of what character that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago greenlit for more episodes, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the creator.
“Being able to collaborate alongside Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly generous, placing faith in us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And throughout this process, my FX team constantly supports me with their ongoing trust and backing.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an standalone show. Every title is a variation of a theme, the same way every series of Fargo is a adaptation on a story,” explained Hawley. “To develop a epic action show that can shift from one instalment to the next, while always examining the core of humanity through this multifaceted and turbulent perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m thrilled to partner with Rob and bring our shared irreverent, daring style to the audience.”
A release window for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
