Suspected Harasser Inquired: 'However Imagine I Might Be Madeleine?'
A female indicted with stalking Kate McCann allegedly deposited her a recorded message which asked: "suppose I am Madeleine?"
Julia Wandelt, twenty-four, who court testimony revealed has consistently declared she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are facing charges charged with pursuing Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February the current year.
On Monday, Leicester Crown Court heard communication data and evidence retrieved from phones logged Ms Wandelt persistently asking Madeleine's mother for a genetic test throughout that period.
Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 - at the age of three during a vacation in Portugal - is one of the most publicized child disappearance cases and continues to be unresolved.
'I Do Not Need Money'
A separate phone message, presented in court, documented Ms Wandelt stating: "I know I'm heavy and not pretty like Madeleine was, but I know what I feel."
While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's one-way conversations with Mrs McCann's voicemail stated: "Suppose there is a small chance that I'm her? Then what? Wouldn't that be crucial for you?"
"I don't want money, I have a life here in Poland, I just want to discover," the recording stated.
The jury was informed that by means of emails, SMS messages and calls, Ms Wandelt requested a biological test, transmitted early photographs to her phone in a attempt to demonstrate a resemblance to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and asserted to have "flashbacks" from a youth with the McCanns.
Robert Jones, an investigator with law enforcement who collated the evidence, informed the court there "didn't appear to be any answers" from Mrs McCann.
Ms Wandelt also reached out to family friends of the McCanns, according to the phone records.
On October 9th, 2024, the father answered a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, saying she had "a wrong number."
That day Ms Wandelt left a recording on Mrs McCann's recording saying "I will persist and I plan to establish my claim."
The court was informed Mrs Spragg struck up a relationship via internet with Ms Wandelt prior to joining her on a trip to the McCanns' home in the county in December 2024.
Phone records showed Mrs Spragg had contacted through messaging service to Mrs McCann to state the press had depicted Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she should be taken seriously in the period leading up to the visit to that location, Leicestershire, in that winter.
The court was told message exchanges between the two defendants, in that autumn, considering attempting to obtain Mrs McCann's genetic material from her bins or from silverware at a eating establishment.
"We need to take action," the co-defendant told Ms Wandelt.
On the night of the appearance to their residence, the defendant dispatched a communication which expressed: "We're currently sat adjacent to the McCanns' house with our headlights off like detectives. I desired to accomplish this with Peter Andrew I never thought I would be doing that with the McCanns."
The trial proceeds.
