Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Tragic Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople announced on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on Monday, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his team members.
Healing from Light Wounds
The sports star had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, his promoter had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the official remarked.
Honoring the Deceased
Those who lost their lives were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”
His release from the hospital comes as the sports world offered condolences for the star in the aftermath of the heartbreaking incident.
